Civil Construction Projects

One of the largest projects undertaken by South Coast Sand & Civil was the Franklin Island Development. The work involved the movement of 320,000 tonnes of material. It required significant Level 1 compaction to make the blocks suitable for building works. The constructed lake is now the centrepiece of the land division. The pump station, fed by saltwater from the ocean, helps to regulate high and low tides.

Beyond Today project work is the epitome of best practice stormwater management. It involved the creation of lagoons and wetlands within residential and rural flow catchments.

The design involved many hectares of wetlands and waterways linked to provide an ecosystem for native plants and wildlife in the middle of the South Coast Urban Environment.

We have recently constructed a new stage at the Wellington East Marina. This project involved removing 75,000m³ of material and the Level 1 placement of 30,000m³, working in and adjacent to the River Murray and below standing water level.

South Coast Sand & Civil is proud to be associated with this 132 lots subdivision. During the five-month construction phase, we worked adjacent to a riverine environment containing a threatened fish species with no environmental incidents. The wetlands were constructed as part of the package, flowing directly into the fish's habitat.
